About the Event

The Friends of the Yukon Archives Society and the Alpine Club of Canada invite you to experience the very first ascent of Mount Logan, Canada’s tallest mountain, located in the Yukon’s Kluane mountain range. The first successful climb of the mountain was in 1925 and took six weeks to complete. It was captured on 16mm camera by climbers H.M. Laing and Allen Carpe of the American Alpine Club. The Yukon Archives holds a 16mm print of the film.

Conquest of Mount Logan is a silent film with title cards that will be accompanied by music from Patrick Keenan and Jennihouse. Following the screening and performance the ACC’s Vincent Larochelle will give a brief talk with pictures of his recent climb of Mount Logan.
